  • Refresh Your Bedding

    May 09, 2019 2 min read

One of the great things about our natural and organic wool bedding products is how easy it is to keep them fresh for years of comfy, healthy rest. Just a few simple steps and a little help from mother nature are all that's needed to reawaken the natural goodness of the wool.

    Unmake Your Bed

Contrary to what mom might've said back when we were kids, unmaking your bed is actually the best thing for it. Moisture wicked away from your body during the night collects in the wool fibers. It's what makes wool such an efficient temperature regulator. Unmaking your bed and letting it air out each morning allows the moisture to dissipate. Just pull back the covers and give your comforters and pillows a fluff. This will freshen up the bedding and give your topper and mattress a chance to breathe.

    Let the Sun Shine In

Wool loves the sun as much as it loves fresh air. Setting your wool bedding out on a sunny day a few times a year is a great way to refresh and cleanse it naturally. Sunning for a few hours, flipping to get all sides, will naturally deodorize, bleach, disinfect, and revitalize your bedding. Wool pillows, comforters, and toppers will all benefit from a little time in the great outdoors. If allergies are an issue, you can place your bedding near a sunny window indoors and get all the same benefits of sunning it outside without the concern of bringing outdoor allergens in.

The one exception to the sunning approach is our wool-and-latex items. Because latex will break down in the sun over time, it's best to keep them out of direct sunlight.

    A Little Extra Protection

Protecting your bedding from everyday wear and tear will also extend its life and keep it fresh and clean.

    • Place your wool comforter inside a washable duvet cover. This not only prolongs its life, it allows you to change up your bedroom decor.
    • Put your pillow inside a zippered pillow cover and add a pillow case or sham for an extra dose of protection.
    • Add a moisture barrier to your mattress or topper. Placed under a fitted sheet, our wool moisture barrier and puddle pads are the perfect companion to your sleep system.
